Big Sur

It is when I escape to the cascading mountains, the long stretches of windy road hugging the sea like the hem of a dress, to the woods where the water falls from the top of the boulders and crashes in a pool below, where the birds sing their song of freedom, that I find myself swallowed up by beauty and forgetful of life’s loud and urgent demands. I truly am just a small minded human rummaging about in His world. Yet somehow here I feel the most safe, the most calm, the most peace. I don’t need money, or cell phone, or luxury. I accept that for a short while the earth will live in my hair, the dirt under my fingernails. And my heart soars because your beauty is all around. I am swimming in a heavenly magic, living, breathing, singing all around me, right now I feel free.
